Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)

This 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) training course will help individuals respond effectively to first aid emergencies in the workplace.

Description

LANTRA logoAccidents and sudden illness can happen in any workplace. Having staff who are confident and competent to act quickly can make a critical difference before professional help arrives.

This one-day Emergency First Aid at Work course provides essential, practical training for those designated as workplace first aiders. It equips delegates with the skills and confidence to recognise emergency situations, provide immediate assistance, and manage incidents safely and calmly until further help is available.

Course overview

Emergency first aid forms a key part of workplace health and safety arrangements. Employers have a legal duty to ensure that appropriate first aid provision is in place, and that nominated staff are trained to respond effectively to common incidents and life‑threatening emergencies.

This course introduces a structured approach to emergency first aid, focusing on initial assessment, prioritising treatment, and maintaining personal and casualty safety. Delegates learn how to respond to a wide range of situations through a combination of instructor-led teaching and practical, hands-on exercises.

Training covers life‑saving skills such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), dealing with unconscious casualties, and managing bleeding. The course also addresses common workplace injuries and illnesses, helping delegates understand when to treat, when to monitor, and when to seek further medical assistance.

Successful completion meets the requirements for the Emergency First Aid at Work qualification, in line with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance.
